The Story Behind Magnolia Dream

magnolia-streamside-storyMagnolia Streamside Resort is the realization of a dream shared by two sisters, Inna and Oksana, who were born in Ukraine and migrated to the United States on their own at the tender ages of 16 and 12. Settling in New York City, they navigated the challenges of a new country and built full and interesting lives.

Inna pursued an MBA and embarked on a corporate career. However, she found this path unfulfilling and sought deeper meaning in her work. This quest led her to join the Make-A-Wish Foundation as a fundraiser, a role that brought her immense joy and satisfaction.

Oksana, with a degree from a prestigious fashion school, initially worked in real estate and perused her passion for travel by visiting 96 countries up to date. Her keen eye for design and property potential proved invaluable. One day, at the suggestion of a real estate broker friend in Pennsylvania, Oksana visited a property with a few cottages by a stream. Even though it was in a very sad shape, she immediately saw the hidden potential in the tranquil setting.

When Inna and Oksana saw the property together, they were captivated by its beauty and the sense of peace it offered. They envisioned creating a place where people could disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and celebrate life’s special moments. They both purchased the property in 2017 and got to work on transforming outdated cottages into what is now a gorgeous nature oasis, Magnolia Streamside Resort.

Both sisters believe that when you take risks and allow your dreams to grow, incredible things happen. After moving to Pennsylvania, Inna met her life partner Sam, who lived just up the mountain from the resort. She needed help planted a magnolia tree by the Main Lodge and Sam gave her a hand. Without realizing it then, they planted a tree together symbolizing the beginning of a beautiful relationship that started to unfold shortly after. They now have two daughters, Anastasia and Sasha and two sons, Sam and Paul, whom they raise together on the Magnolia property.

Magnolia Event & Wedding Venue

In 2018, Magnolia Streamside Resort hosted a beautiful celebration for Oksana’s wedding, with guests from all over the world. The resort’s grounds and comfortable accommodations were perfect for a weekend wedding celebration, and the event left such a lasting impression that the sisters decided to expand their business to include an event and wedding venue. They now invite other couples to celebrate their special moments at this magical place.

Although Oksana’s marriage did not work out, she turned her experience into an opportunity for growth and co-authored a book called “Freedom,” sharing her story of being a single mother and living a life of her dreams. She now lives with her daughter, Angelina, on the Magnolia grounds, continues to travel the world and grow Magnolia’s vision with Inna.

Magnolia Homestead

In 2020, the sisters made a significant investment by purchasing 118 acres of picturesque land adjacent to the resort. Their vision was twofold: to expand the resort and Magnolia dream, and to establish a homestead where their families could live. This decision not only aimed at enhancing the resort’s amenities and offerings but also prioritized creating a sustainable and fulfilling lifestyle for their loved ones within the serene surroundings of the new property.

Over the years, the sisters dedicated themselves to transforming a portion of the land into a stunning homestead. They meticulously cultivated vegetable gardens and fruit orchards, ensuring a bountiful harvest throughout the seasons. The presence of bee hives provided both pollination for their crops and delicious honey. They also raised chickens, adding fresh eggs to their daily provisions. They forage the land for mushrooms and medicinal plants, bake sourdough bread and make most of their meals from scratch using fresh, organic, wholesome ingredients from their land. Most importantly, they live next door to each other with their families and their mom, Lidiya. The expansive and verdant spaces provided an ideal environment for their children to grow up, fostering a deep connection to family, nature and a sense of wonder in the great outdoors.

Magnolia Quantum Wellness and MedSpa

During the pandemic, amidst a world gripped by fear and uncertainty, Inna and Oksana found inspiration to create Magnolia Quantum Wellness and MedSpa. This visionary project aimed to provide a state-of-the-art holistic wellness center where clients could discover natural methods to maintain their physical and mental health.

Drawing from their own passion for holistic living, they integrated over 30 cutting-edge wellness modalities under one roof. These included innovative treatments and therapies designed to promote well-being from a holistic perspective. By assembling a community of holistic medical professionals, they ensured that clients received comprehensive education and guidance on achieving balance and harmony in mind, body, and spirit.

Magnolia Quantum Wellness and MedSpa thus became not just a place of healing, but a hub for learning and empowerment, offering a sanctuary where individuals could navigate their wellness journey in a supportive and knowledgeable environment. The property also features a cozy MUG Cafe that serves a nutritious and delicious menu along with the best cappuccino on the mountain.

Magnolia Children Forest Garden

Inspired by their children’s growth and a desire to provide an alternative education experience, Inna and Oksana founded Magnolia Children’s Forest Garden. This educational space drew inspiration from various progressive methodologies including Montessori, Waldorf, the unschooling movement, as well as forest kindergarten education principles observed in Finland and renowned examples like Fuji Kindergarten in Japan.

At Magnolia Children’s Forest Garden, the focus is on nurturing creativity, independence, and a deep connection with nature. Children are encouraged to learn through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences in the natural environment. The curriculum emphasized holistic development, incorporating activities that fostered cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth.

The center currently catering to a group of 3-7 year old students, provides a rich and stimulating environment where children can freely explore and engage with their surroundings, learning valuable life skills in a supportive and nurturing atmosphere. Inna and Oksana’s vision for Magnolia Children’s Forest Garden is to cultivate a love for learning and a sense of wonder in each child, preparing them for a future where they could thrive as confident and compassionate individuals.

Both sisters are mothers, business owners, homeschoolers, homebirthers, homesteaders, sustainable agriculture supporters, medical freedom advocates, health and wellness enthusiasts, world travelers, and community builders. Their diverse interests and unwavering commitment to holistic living are reflected in every aspect of Magnolia Project with many branches that currently extend from their very basic desire to live a fruitful, sustainable, meaningful life in balance with nature and in partnership with the community.
